Recently, a 5.6-magnitude earthquake struck Cianjur, Bandung, Java Barat, Indonesia. According to the Cianjur County-level Government, the earthquake had serious impacts on some local communities, resulting in 602 deaths, injuring 2,046 people and displacing 62,545 people.

Huayou and PT Vale Indonesia decided to jointly donate US $340,000 to the earthquake-hit area in Cianjur County. Huayou donated US $170,000 to support post-disaster reconstruction.
The donation ceremony was held at the AI-Jabbar Mosque in Bandung City. Ridwan Kamil, Governor of Java Barat, Indonesia, attended the donation ceremony. Budi Juanda, Secretary of Java Barat and Chairman of Regional Disaster Management Committee, also attended the ceremony. At the donation ceremony, the two Indonesian government representatives expressed their heartfelt thanks to the two enterprises. Chen Yibo, the Chief Representative of Huayou Jakarta Representative Office, entrusted by Huayou, and Adriansyah Chaniago, Vice President of PT Vale, made donations on behalf of their respective companies.
"The earthquake in Cianjur County caused many deaths and injuries, and thousands of people were homeless. Therefore, Huayou decides to provide assistance to the affected people and will continue to contribute to Indonesian society with the best ESG investment concept in the future," said the Chief Representative of Huayou at the donation ceremony. On November 13, 2022, at the G20 Business Summit, Huayou signed a Definitive Cooperation Agreement with PT Vale Indonesia, which is a key step for Huayou to realize its integration strategies. According to the Agreement, the two sides will process the nickel ore in the Pomalaa mining area in the Pomalaa, Kolaka County, Sulawesi Province. It is planned that the Pomalaa Indonesian High Pressure Acid Leaching (HPAL) Project will have an annual output capacity of no more than 120,000 tons of nickel metal, which will provide important support for the ecosystems of electric vehicles. The two sides will complement each other's advantages, have powerful combination, build a harmonious industrial ecosystem, and promote the shared development of the industries.
