Eduardo Bartolomeo expressed his congratulations to Huayue Project on withstanding the pressure of the COVID-19 epidemic and setting the world record of being "the largest project with the shortest duration for production", and fully recognized the highlights of this project in terms of green production technology, scale of production capacity, carbon emission reduction plan, diversity and inclusiveness, gender equality in employment, and the construction of the ESG system. He showed keen expectation on the joint efforts on the Pomalaa project to achieve better and further cooperation.
Gao Baojun extended a warm welcome to Eduardo Bartolomeo and his delegation. He said that the global new energy industry is currently full of opportunities. Aiming at the demand for new energy battery materials, Huayue Project is committed to solving the bottleneck of material supply and boosting the development of new energy industry. Relying on the advanced and mature HPAL process, Huayue Project can take low-grade laterite nickel ore as raw material and fully extract nickel, cobalt, manganese, chromium and other valuable metals from it, maximizing the value of the raw material. In the whole process of production, the Huayue Project attaches great importance to environmental friendliness, which can help achieve ultra-low carbon emissions. At the same time, by thoroughly implementing the investment philosophy of "wherever we invest, we must contribute to the local economy and society", Huayue Project has provided more than 10,000 jobs for the local people, actively carried out the training for local talents, strengthened the cooperation between industries, universities, and research institutes, and built the core competitiveness of the industry, thus constantly benefiting the local people's livelihood and injecting momentum to the sustainable development.
After the discussion and exchange, Eduardo Bartolomeo and his delegation visited Huayue Exhibition Hall, HPAL workshop, product workshop and dry residue yard successively, and gained a detailed understanding of the production capacity, cutting-edge technology, and environmental management and development potential of Huayue Project.
The cooperation between Huayou Cobalt and Vale enables a perfect combination of Huayou's advanced HPAL technology with Vale's resource advantages, which will further realize low-carbon, green and sustainable resource development. By taking this opportunity, Huayou is working together with the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain to build projects through cooperation, achieve a win-win situation, and share our achievements, in a bid to promote high-quality development with the aid of high-level opening up and constantly build a global industrial ecology that is environmentally friendly and harmonious.
